Miranda Heath

Hello! I'm Miranda, a psychologist and philosopher studying for a PhD at the University of Edinburgh.

I am currently exploring how moral psychologists are using a frame that biases moral psychology into producing understandings of moral behaviour, and how we can harness it to live well together, that align with economic liberalism.

I hope that recognising this will help us gain a richer understanding of the ways in which we can live well together in caring relation to one another, and better respond to existential collective action problems like the climate crisis.

I am interested in how ideology shapes the sense we (can) make of the world. I co-organise the Ideology Research Group at the University of Edinburgh, where we present and discuss both new work and existing literature on ideology broadly construed.

I am supervised by Dr. Matti Wilks (Psychology) and Dr. Barry Maguire (Philosophy).

I find joy in music, nature, painting, learning about programming (particularly Linux and web development) and connecting meaningfully with others. Oh, and spoonbills.

You can reach me at miranda@mirandaheath.website.
